Flanders Fields Collection
Originals and Limited Edition Prints
There are a lot of different memories and emotions in this work. I was involved in Remembrance services as a choral scholar at St Martin in the Fields and always found them incredibly moving.
From such a sad memory, I hope you might also see that there is some of Blackadder Goes Forth in Flanders Fields. My cows are meant to be fun, and I always think it’s amazing how much humour could be incorporated into a war story.
More up to date influences include listening to my son Sam talking about his Combined Cadet Force unit getting ready for his second Remembrance Day parade and talking to some close friends who regularly visit the First World War sites in Belgium and France.
I love poppies and really enjoyed the challenge of incorporating them into this new piece. I hope that you think it’s respectful, and sad, and fun, all at the same time.
If you see something you like that's no longer available, you can always commission Caroline to create something similar and/or unique for you. Click on the Commissions page on the menu for more details.
